About The Program:
Local First Arizona believes that locally owned business are leading the charge in
environmental sustainability across the state. We want to shine
the spotlight on these businesses that are doing great things for their communities by
paying attention to environmental best practices. By
becoming certified, these businesses will stand out from the crowd and benefit from
marketing through the AZGBP & LFA networks while setting a
great example for fellow business owners.
About Local First Arizona:
Local First Arizona promotes, supports and celebrates a vibrant and sustainable Arizona
economy by educating citizens about local business
ownership, social equity, cultural diversity, environmental kinship, and collaboration.
Local First Arizona's business coalition represents nearly
3,000 locally owned businesses of all industries and sizes across the state. Local First
Arizona also boasts about 1,000 individual members of the
Localist program.
Who can become certified:
At this time, only locally owned businesses can be certified. A locally owned business is
defined as being headquartered in AZ with the owner living
in the state. The business cannot be publicly traded, have more physical locations operating
outside of Arizona than in state locations, be part of an
out-of-state franchise or be operated by an independent agent that is part of a non-Arizona
based company. For businesses that do not qualify for
this certification program, we recommend the ADEQ Voluntary Environmental Stewardship
Program.
